Summer always seems to fly by. The summer is drawing to a close, and we’re gearing up for back-to-school, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make the summer fun last! Here are 5 ways that I’m keeping the summer fun alive as long as possible:
1. Celebrate National S’mores Day!
National S’mores Day was August 10th, but who says you need ONE day to celebrate? Nothing says “summer” like a batch of s’mores. Grab a box of our Vanilla Honey Graham Crunchy Cookies (or any flavor of your choice – Snickerdoodles are my personal favorite), a few of our dairy-free Chocolate Bars and roast up some vegan marshmallows for a sweet summer treat. If you’re looking for some extra fun, whip up a batch of our soy-free marshmallow fluff. Use it to make our S’mores recipe, and get creative with the leftovers. Can anyone say YUM?!
2. Make a Summer Bucket-List
What are your favorite summer activities? Make a bucket list of summertime favorites and try to check everything off before school starts back up! Here are some of my favorites:
Cookouts and Picnics – If gluten-free food is involved, I’m definitely a fan. Our Garlic Hummus is a great vegan appetizer for a summer cookout or picnic. Pair it with some freshly cut veggies or your favorite flavor of our Plentils for a satisfying crunch.
Street Festivals – One of my FAVORITE things about summer in Chicago is going to fun street festivals every weekend. It’s a great way to soak up the sun, explore the city, and discover new places! Enjoy Life Grab & Go options have definitely been along for the ride for each of the festivals I’ve been to (SunSeed Crunch Bars, I’m looking at you!).
Road Trips – Travel is a classic summertime activity. Plan a last minute road trip with your friends and spend the weekend at the beach or in the mountains. Don’t forget to follow these helpful allergy-friendly travel tips to make your vacation a success!
3. Keep the Grill Fired Up
Grilling and summer go hand in hand. And what better way to add some allergy-friendly flavor to your
grill-out than our Plentils? These lentil chips make the perfect topping for grilled veggies.
4. Let Kids Play in the Dirt
Edible dirt, that is! Put a summery twist on this fun and delicious gluten-free Dirt Cup recipe by swapping out the Double Chocolate Crunchy Cookies for Sugar Crisp, and topping with beach-themed decorations to turn these springtime dirt cups into a full-on beach bash.
5. Enjoy Your Family
The best part of summer vacation is definitely spending time with family. My favorite week of this entire summer was the week that I went on vacation with my family. My sisters and I are super close, and we loved being able to goof off and catch up for an entire week, especially since we live so far apart now. No matter what you’re doing or what food you’re eating, soak up these last moments with your family. Take pictures, make memories, and let them know how special they are!
