Our Ingredients

Trust is our most important ingredient at Enjoy Life Foods. This is why we make it easy to find and understand the simple, all-natural ingredients baked into our products. See below for a comprehensive list of every ingredient used by Enjoy Life. In addition to using all-natural ingredients, our foods are always Verified Non-GMO, Certified Gluten-Free, and free from 14 common food allergens.

Applesauce, Unsweetened

Made from apples and water. It helps to keep our products moist, chewy, and delicious.

Baking Soda

Also known as sodium bicarbonate. We use this all-natural ingredient to help our products rise.

Blood Orange Oil

The concentrated essential oils of blood orange, which carry the aroma and flavor of sweet oranges.

Brown Rice Flour

This flour comes from unpolished brown rice and includes bran from the hull of the grain, which adds nutritional value.

Brown Rice Syrup

This syrup is made from soft cooked rice. We use it to bind and sweeten our chewy bars.

Brown Sugar

A natural combination of sugar and molasses refined without any added colorings, flavorings or coatings.

Buckwheat Flour

Despite its name, Buckwheat Flour is unrelated to wheat. Its closest edible relative is rhubarb. High in proteins and essential amino acids, it is also a good source of iron, zinc and selenium. Our certified gluten-free buckwheat flour is ground in a dedicated gluten-free facility. We combine it with other flours to create our signature gluten-free flour blend.

Caramel Pieces

Dairy-free caramel made from a mixture of organic cane sugar and organic tapioca syrup.

Cassava Flour

Also known as tapioca flour, it is made from the cassava root, is high in fiber, and is often used as a replacement for traditional wheat flour.

Cinnamon

We use grade A cinnamon – the best quality available – from the bark of the evergreen tree.

Citric Acid

Citric acid is the most widely used organic acid to control pH and enhance the flavor of foods and beverages. It is found naturally in all citrus fruits and is produced commercialy by microbial fermentation of carbohydrates such as corn.

Clove

A flower bud that is dried and then ground. Cloves are added to some formulas for their flavor.

Cocoa Butter

Despite its name, cocoa butter is dairy free. It is the fat component of the cocoa bean. It is a common ingredient in most chocolates.

Concentrated Fruit Juices

Flavorful juices extracted from grapes, apples, and pears (with no water added) that bring sweetness and moisture to our products.

Cream of Tartar

Derived from the fermentation of grapes, this acid is used to adjust the pH in baking products.

Dark Chocolate

Derived from the cocoa bean, at 69% cocoa, our dark chocolate contains unsweetened chocolate, cocoa butter, and cane sugar.

Date Paste

A natural sweetener made from pureed dates that helps keep our products moist.

Dehydrated Carrots

Air-dried carrots.

Dried Apples

Air-dried red and/or green apples.

Dried Apricots

California sun-dried apricots.

Dried Banana

Freeze-dried bananas.

Dried Beet Powder

A powder made from air-dried ground fresh beets.

Dried Blueberries

Freeze-dried blueberries.

Dried Cranberries

Dried cranberries coated with sunflower oil and cane sugar.

Dried Crystallized Ginger

Ginger cooked and steeped in cane sugar syrup, then drained and crystallized to form pieces.

Dried Pineapples

Hot air-dried pineapple.

Dried Raspberries

Freeze-dried raspberries.

Dried Strawberries

Sweetened dried strawberries, coated with sunflower oil and rice flour.

Dried Sweet Potatoes

Air-dried sweet potatoes.

Fig Paste

Softer than traditional fig paste and similar in texture to fruit jams, this paste made from figs is used to add natural sweetness to our products

Figs

Dried figs coated with rice flour to prevent cracking.

Flaxseed

Made from pure ground flax seed, it is a good source of Omega-3 fatty acids and protein. This flour contains both soluble and insoluble fiber.

Freeze Dried Strawberries

Freeze-dried strawberries.

Ground Ginger

Dried, ground ginger root.

Gum Arabic

Gum arabic is made from the sap of acacia trees. It is an all-natural gum that we use as a binder, emulsifier, and stabilizer in our products to give them a chewy texture.

Konjac Gum

Konjac is derived from tubers of the elephant yam. We use this ingredient in our products to add pliability and increase moisture retention.

Lemon Oil

The concentrated essential oils of lemon derived from the fruit using a combination of pressure and centrifugation.

Malic Acid

Naturally occuring organic acid that gives apples their sour/tart taste. It is added to some formulas to improve the flavor.

Maple Syrup

Pure maple syrup made from the sap of maple trees.

Millet Flour

Made from finely ground millet seed, this ancient grain is high in riboflavin, b vitamins, and minerals. We combine it with other flours to create our signature gluten-free flour blend.

Molasses

Our molasses is a thick syrup that results from processing sugar cane into sugar.

Natural Cocoa Powder

Unsweetened cocoa powder made from naturally processed cocoa solids. Cocoa Mass or Cocoa Powder is the material that remains after chocolate liquor is pressed to extract cocoa butter.

Natural Flavor

Our natural flavors are derived from botanicals that are certified gluten-free and free-from the 14 common allergens listed on our packaging.

Natural Marshmallow Flavor

A water-based blend of flavors resembling the flavor of toasted marshmallows, derived from all-natural plant and botanical sources.

Nutmeg

Despite its name, nutmeg is not a nut and is safe for someone avoiding tree nuts. It is obtained from the seeds of a tropical tree species (Myristica fragrans). We use nutmeg to add rich flavor to our products.

Oat Flour

Flour made from finely ground, Purity Protocol, certified gluten-free oats.

Organic Cane Sugar

Organic cane sugar is an alternative to refined sugar. While both sweeteners are made from sugar cane, cane sugar juice does not undergo the same degree of processing that refined sugar does and therefore retains a few more nutrients.

Organic Caramel

A brown liquid obtained by the controlled heat treatment of organic cane sugar.

Organic Honey

All natural, light amber, organic honey.

Organic Rolled Oats

Purity Protocol, organic, certified gluten-free rolled oats produced from 100% dehulled, cleaned oats. These have been grown and manufactured by the Purity Protocol for gluten-free foods.

Palm Oil Shortening

Our RSPO Certified Palm Oil is made from the fruit of the oil palm. Semi-solid at room temperature, it helps some of our products maintain their delicious crunch, and helps keep our products fresher for longer.

Pearled Sorghum Crisps

Crispy sorghum pieces prepared from first grade cleaned pearled sorghum that has been cooked, dried, milled and then oven-toasted to produce crispiness.

Popped Sorghum

Whole grain sorghum is popped like corn into small white kernels to add texture to our snack bars.

Poppy Seeds

Harvested from the poppy plant, these seeds are rich in vitamins such as thiamin, folate, magnesium and calcium.

Puffed Amaranth

Used to add a soft crunch to our treats, amaranth is a natural plant that comes from densely packed flowers.

Pureed Banana

Pureed Cavendish bananas.

Quick Oat Flakes

Manufactured from 100% dehulled, cleaned oats that have been grown and manufactured following the Purity Protocol for gluten-free foods.

Quinoa Flakes

Quinoa that’s rolled to create a thin flake.

Raisins

Sun-dried grapes.

Rice Crisps

Crispy bits of puffed rice made out of rice flour, rice bran, raisin juice concentrate, honey, & salt. Derived from white rice.

Rice Protein

A food protein manufactured from polished broken rice after aqueous extraction and subsequent drying. Derived from brown rice.

Rice Protein Crisps

Crispy pieces of rice protein and rice starch mixed, then expanded and oven toasted. Derived from brown rice.

Rice Starch

Made exclusively from rice, it brings a great, smooth texture to our products. Derived from white rice.

Ricemilk Chocolate

Derived from the cocoa bean, our dairy-free ricemilk chocolate contains cane sugar, cocoa butter, unsweetened chocolate, rice syrup powder, and salt.

Roasted and Salted Pumpkin Seeds

Pumpkin Seeds roasted with light sunflower oil and salt.

Roasted and Salted Sunflower Seeds

Sunflower kernels with light sunflower oil and salt.

Rosemary Extract

This pure rosemary extract helps keep our products fresh and promotes a longer shelf life.

Safflower Oil

Safflower oil is high in unsaturated fatty acids, highly stable, and boasts significant levels of Vitamin E. This oil is expeller pressed from safflower seeds via a chemical-free, mechanical process.

Salt

This non-iodized salt contains no corn or corn byproducts.

Semisweet Chocolate

Derived from the cocoa bean, our chocolate simply contains unsweetened chocolate, cocoa butter and cane sugar.

Sorghum Flour

This whole grain white sorghum is high in protein and naturally gluten-free. We combine it with our other flours to create our signature gluten-free flour blend.

Spices

Our spices are certified gluten-free and free from the 14 common allergens listed on our packaging.

Steel Cut Oats

Manufactured from 100% dehulled, cleaned oats that have been grown and manufactured following the Purity Protocol for gluten-free foods.

Sugar Cane Syrup

A liquid blend of glucose and fructose derived from cane sugar.

Sunflower Kernels

Hulled and pasteurized sunflower kernels.

Sunflower Protein

Plant-based protein derived entirely from Sunflower Seeds. This protein is used to fortify the nutritional content and improve the texture of some products

Sunflower Seed Flour

Flour ground from hulled sunflower seeds.

Sunflower Seed Spread

Made from ground roasted sunflower seeds, evaporated cane juice and salt.

Sweet Potato

Prepared from blanched, properly sieved sweet potatoes and finished to a puree.

Tapioca Syrup

A natural sweetener made from the cassava tuber, or yucca root.

Vanilla Extract

This vanilla extract comes from 100% vanilla beans. It is not processed with any gluten-containing ingredients. While the vanilla is distilled with corn alcohol, all corn protein is removed in the distillation process.

Vegetable Glycerin

Derived from Palm, glycerin is used to improve texture and shelf-stability.

White Pearled Sorghum Flour

Flour ground from sorghum grain that has been pearled to remove the hull.

White Rice Flour

Milled from polished white rice.

Xanthan Gum

Used to improve the texture and appearance of gluten-free bakery products. This ingredient comes from the dried cell coat of a microorganism called Zanthomonas campestris, and is derived from the fermentation of corn sugars. All corn sugars are removed in the processing of xanthan gum, so the finished ingredient contains no corn protein.
